A number of organizations involved with SFI certification were recognized at the 16th Annual SFI Conference in Burlington, Vermont.

The SFI Inc. President's Award acknowledges outstanding work in a given field such as forestry or innovative partnerships. The Boy Scouts of America received the SFI President's Award for leadership in embracing third-party forest certification and educating youth about the value of sustainable forest management.

SFI Inc.'s 37 SFI Implementation Committees help the SFI program maintain a vital link to communities across North America, working with local government agencies, forestry and professional associations, landowner groups and many others to improve forest management. Each year, one committee receives the achievement award based a broad range of criteria – such as leadership, the growth of the SFI program, logger education, landowner outreach and education, recognition and SFI program integrity.
Mississippi received the 13th Annual SFI Implementation Committee Achievement Award for advancing logger training, building community partnerships and raising awareness about the value of third-party forest certification. According to the judges, committee members met and exceeded all criteria for judging nominees.

SFI Inc. introduced its conservation research leadership award in 2007 to recognize program participants involved in strong partnership activities that achieve ongoing and far-reaching benefits.
The Lyme Timber Company of Hanover, NH, and the Wildlife Management Institute received an SFI Conservation Leadership Award for Biodiversity Research for leading a project that is improving forest habitat for the American woodcock in northern New York State. Project partners include the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Northeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
