Michelle Desiderio, Director of Green Building Programs, National Association of Home Builders Research Center, outlined the new ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard™.
Joel Ann Todd, Environmental Consultant and Chair, U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Steering Committee, gave an update on USGBC’s recent activities related to LEED and certified wood.
Wednesday Sept. 23: Ecosystem Services Dialogue

Ricardo Bayon, Partner and Co-founder, EKO Asset Management Partners, discussed water markets and Ecosystem Services Investment Funds.
George Kelly, Director, Environmental Banc & Exchange LLC, discussed habitat and species conservation banking.
Sally Collins, Director, USDA Office of Ecosystem Services and Markets, delivered an update on opportunities for U.S. landowners under new legislation.
Wednesday Sept. 23: Demand for SFI-Certified Paper and Packaging
Guy Gleysteen, Senior Vice-President, Production, Time Inc., spoke about environmental issues in paper procurement and an SFI-Time Inc. pilot project to increase certified forest fiber.
Taylor Holley, Senior Manager, Wood and Paper Sustainability, Walmart Inc., discussed the Walmart Sustainability Index and how SFI-certified products fit within Walmart’s sustainability initiatives.

Rob Olszewski, Vice President, Corporate & Environmental Affairs, Plum Creek Timber Co., introduced the SFI 2010-2014 Standard from the SFI Inc. Resources Committee perspective.
Rick Cantrell, SFI Vice President and COO, outlined the review process.
Joe Lawson, Director, Sustainable Forestry, MWV, provided an economic chamber perspective of the revised standard.
Lena Tucker, District Forester, Oregon Department of Forestry, provided a social chamber perspective.
Scot Williamson, Vice President, Wildlife Management Institute, provided an environmental chamber perspective.
Mike Branch, Manager, Forest Sustainability, Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., discussed enhancements to the procurement objectives.
Rick Cantrell, SFI Vice President and COO, discussed carbon and bioenergy enhancements.
Stephen Vinnedge, Stewardship Forester, West Fraser Mills Ltd., provided a Canadian perspective and touched on areas related to SFI Implementation Committees.
Pat McElroy, Member, SFI External Review Panel, and Washington State Forester, Retired, offered observations of the standard review process from the External Review Panel perspective.
Thursday, Sept. 24: Responsible Procurement in a Global Supply Chain
Lars Laestadius, Senior Associate, People and Ecosystems Program, World Resources Institute, addressed the relationship between The Lacey Act and forest certification, and how The Lacey Act will interact with emerging European Union legislation on illegal logging.
Ward Hubbell, President, Green Building Initiative, discussed Green Globes legislative recognition and opportunities for SFI program participants.
Thursday, Sept. 24: Conservation and Community Partnerships
Sean Ross, Director of Forestry Operations, The Lyme Timber Co., and Scot Williamson, Vice President, Wildlife Management Institute, discussed recent partnerships implementing State Wildlife Action Plans.
Gary Bigelow, Chief Operating Officer, Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity, and Kevin Hoyt, Senior Natural Resource Analyst for Huber Engineered Woods LLC, and Tennessee SFI Implementation Committee Chair, provided an update on the partnership between Habitat for Humanity and the Tennessee SFI Implementation Committee.
