Kathy Abusow is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. (SFI).
In her leadership role at SFI, Kathy works with landowners, forest product producers and buyers, government organizations, as well as conservation groups to promote forest certification along the entire supply chain.
Previously, Kathy managed a forest certification and market acceptance consultancy where she worked with government, trade organizations, and corporations around the world on marketplace issues such as procurement policy design, and green building rating tool’s acceptance of wood and certified products. Over the past 15 years, Kathy has authored numerous publications related to forest certification and responsible procurement and is internationally respected for her technical expertise on forest certification standards including SFI, Canadian Standards Association, Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes.
She earned an undergraduate degree from McGill University with studies at Leningrad State University in Russia and a M.A. from Harvard University in Regional Studies: Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, with a concentration in sustainable development and natural resources.

Rick provides staff leadership in implementing, monitoring and promoting the SFI program, including budget management and human resources. He supports the SFI Standard review process, pilot projects and task forces, and serves as staff liaison for the External Review Panel and the SFI Resources Committee. Rick manages auditor accreditation programs, coordinates the complaint process and deals with interpretations of SFI certification standards.
KAREN BRANDT
Vice President, Market Affairs
Karen works with the SFI program's members, customers, non-governmental organizations and governments to raise awareness of SFI forest certification through targeted marketing activities across North America. She is responsible for all of the SFI program’s marketing and communications activities, and also sits on the board of directors of the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC), a global, forest certification umbrella organization.

Danny manages market development and acceptance of SFI certification programs in Canada. He advises buyers in the public and private sectors about the value of SFI certification, and helps Canadian consumers understand an SFI label on paper and wood products is proof it is a responsible environmental choice. Danny is fluent in French and English, and works out of the SFI office in Candiac, Quebec.

Jason works directly with companies in the wood and paper supply chain including forest landowners, manufacturers, merchants, lumberyards, dealers, wholesalers, printers and end users to promote the SFI program and assist with third-party forest certification and on-product labeling. He oversees the Office of Label Use and Licensing, which administers the rules and procedures for SFI on-product label usage.

Allison manages outreach to conservation groups and other SFI stakeholders and identifies areas of potential collaboration. She also works on projects related to procurement policies, and is currently responsible for SFI Inc. activities related to bioenergy.

Sue manages SFI’s marketing initiatives in North America. She works with SFI staff, member companies, partner organizations and media to promote awareness of forest certification, responsible forestry and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative program.

Amy manages the SFI Inc headquarters office, is the main contact for general inquiries and publication requests, and is the staff liaison to the SFI Implementation Committees, SFI Inc.'s grassroots network. She organizes SFI events such as meetings, workshops and the SFI Annual Conference.
