Kathy Abusow is President and CEO of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI®), a non-profit organization dedicated to responsible forestry. SFI’s success is founded on their conservation research, community partnerships and third party certification to the SFI Standard on approximately 200 million acres of forest land across North America. Under Kathy’s leadership, SFI Inc. established a multi-million dollar conservation research grant program, which included funding the World Resources Institute’s risk information tool to assist with the avoidance of illegal logging and in 2012 SFI Inc. launched the SFI Forest Partners Program which works with founding partners Time Inc., National Geographic Society, Macmillan and Pearson to increase the levels of forest certification to address the growing demand by responsible corporations who seek low-risk certified forest products in the supply chain.
A sought after speaker, Kathy has led and moderated discussions at Fortune Brainstorm Green on themes related to supply chain management and the new economics of land, she has spoken at RISI’s North American Forest Products Conference on Evaluating the Business Case for Sustainable Practices. Most recently she spoke at The Economist’s World Forest Summit in Stockholm on a panel that addressed illegal logging and timber regulations, as well as the World Business Council on Sustainable Development's Forest Solutions Working Group.
Kathy is the Chair of the PEFC US Governing Body. The SFI Standard is endorsed by PEFC. In November 2012, Kathy addressed the PEFC Stakeholder Forum on Bioenergy which addressed regulatory and procurement challenges and opportunities.
Kathy earned an undergraduate degree from McGill University and a M.A. from Harvard University with a concentration in sustainable development of natural resources.

Monique leads the communications and marketing efforts at SFI that includes driving strategic positioning and marketing of the SFI program, overseeing digital media, managing media relations and acting as spokesperson. As chief of operations, she also manages financial and administrative operations. Monique is a seasoned communications professional with more than 20 years of experience managing communications and marketing functions in the banking industry and renewable energy arena. She earned her bachelor's degree in economics and French from Rutgers University and her masters in international management with a concentration in finance, French and European studies from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is on the board of directors for the International Association of Business Communicators (Washington, D.C. chapter).

Jason works directly with companies in the wood and paper supply chain including forest landowners, manufacturers, merchants, lumberyards, dealers, wholesalers, printers and end users to promote the SFI program and assist with third-party forest certification and on-product labeling. He oversees the Office of Label Use and Licensing, which administers the rules and procedures for SFI on-product label usage.

Nadine leads SFI outreach strategies to ensure state and federal agencies in the United States adopt inclusive approaches for forest certification programs that support responsible forest management. She also provides support at the federal and provincial levels in Canada, as needed, and leads SFI activities related to carbon issues.
ANDREW DE VRIES

Andrew oversees SFI's conservation program in Canada and engages Native Americans, First Nations and Metis groups both in the development and use of the SFI standard. Andrew also works with governments in Canada and Europe to ensure inclusive forest certification related policies. Andrew has been a member of a variety of councils and boards related to conservation and forestry, including the North American Bird Conservation Initiative (NABCI), and the Forest Products Human Resources Sector Council. Andrew earned a B.Sc, and M.A. from the University of Calgary.
GREGOR MACINTOSH

Gregor supports the SFI Standard review process, pilot projects and task forces, and serves as staff liaison for the External Review Panel and the SFI Resources Committee. He manages auditor accreditation programs, coordinates the complaint process and deals with interpretations of SFI certification standards. Gregor joins SFI after many years working in the field of forest certification auditing where his focus areas included environmental and sustainable forest management performance, chain of custody auditing and forest carbon accounting. He has professional experience in the United States, Canada and China. Gregor is a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters and holds the SAF Certified Forestry Auditor designation.

Eli is the principle liaison with conservation organizations and oversees all aspects of SFI's Conservation and Community Partnership Grant Program. Eli is a respected conservation advocate and brings over fourteen years of experience to the SFI program, including ten years as a federal lobbyist for American Rivers and the Ocean Conservancy. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, a Master's degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington, and a Certification in Environmental Management from the University of Washington, Graduate School of Business.

Danny manages market development and acceptance of SFI certification programs in Canada and is responsible for Green Building in North America. He advises buyers in the public and private sectors about the value of SFI certification, and helps Canadian consumers understand an SFI label on paper and wood products is proof it is a responsible environmental choice. Danny is fluent in French and English, and works out of the SFI office in Candiac, Quebec.
