Nature Conservancy of Canada and SFI Partner to Protect Bat Populations

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia — The Nature Conservancy of Canada has received a Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) conservation grant to support protection of bat populations in southern British Columbia. The grant enables research to document the locations and health of bat habitat, which will in turn assist conservationists in taking greater measures to protect this sensitive species.

West Virginia Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation and MeadWestvaco Committed to Species Restoration as part of SFI Conservation Grant Project

RUPERT, WV — The West Virginia Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation planted more than 650 of its most promising blight-resistant American chestnut trees Saturday, April 30th, on MeadWestvaco lands near Rupert, as part of a species restoration project funded through a Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) conservation grant.

White House Easter Egg Features SFI Packaging for Third Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON — The gift box for the White House Easter Egg has been made from Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) chain of custody certified paperboard. This is the third consecutive year that SFI products have been used for the White House Easter Egg gift box. The National Park Foundation sells the souvenir egg to benefit the White House Easter Egg Roll. The souvenir eggs are sold online at easter.nationalparks.org or at the White House Historical Association stores in Washington, D.C.

Clemson Research Helps Land Managers Improve Wildlife Habitat

CLEMSON — Clemson University held a field tour on its experimental forest today to demonstrate the results of research that will help land managers in the southeastern United States improve wildlife habitat management practices on private forests. The research and demonstration efforts are being funded through a Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Conservation and Community Partnership Grant totaling $90,000 over three years.
