SFI in the News
Huffington Post
In observance of the United Nations' International Day of Forests on March 21 SFI's Kathy Abusow published a piece in the Huffington Post that encouraged all of us to do more to advance practical, results-oriented solutions that will ensure healthy forests for future generations while supporting the people and communities who depend on them today.
TreeHugger - For the Birds
TreeHugger posted a bird conservation article "A half dozen projects that are for the birds"
Southeast Green Radio
Southeast Green interviewed SFI's Jason Metnick, covering topics ranging from the new Standard, to consumer awareness and green building.

2015 SFI Annual Conference Registration is OPEN
  • Are you interested in global market trends and how they will impact North American forests?
  • Do you care about responsible sourcing of natural resources?
  • Do you wonder whether skyscrapers will be built out of wood in the future?
  • Have you considered what the ripple effect would be if kids connected with forests instead of the internet?
What are the risks to the supply chain, to our economy, to forests in general, if we don't secure a future generation to care for our forests and to harvest them responsibly?   If you wonder about these things, then come to the SFI 20th Anniversary Annual Conference. You'll engage in discussions about these topics and many more. If you don't wonder about these things...well we think you should, because the future of our forests affects everyone.

Come together with some of the foremost thought leaders in the forest sector to celebrate SFI's successes and embrace the opportunities of the future. We expect over 300 attendees - big enough to matter but still the right scale to establish real connections.

SIC Spotlight - Louisiana
The Louisiana SFI Implementation Committee just installed three billboards, each spreading the good news about SFI and sustainable forestry. The committee also runs an SFI ad in the Hunting Regulations book put out by the state that hunters use for season opening and closing dates.
If that wasn't enough, they also wrote and produced a TV commercial - What is our House Made of? - that was run on cable stations around the state and are now in the third printing of their Sustainable Forestry Coloring Book produced to teach children about the benefits of sustainable forest.

SFI Annual Progress Report Survey
The SFI Annual Progress Report Survey on the 2014 calendar year was due March 31st. If you haven't yet submitted your survey, please contact rachel.dierolf@sfiprogram.org immediately. This survey is used to generate insights and ways to identify opportunities to serve organizations certified to the SFI Standard and the larger SFI community.
White House Easter Eggs
SFI is proud that the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America's national parks, once again selected to package the official 2015 White House Easter Egg in a gift box made from paperboard certified to the SFI Standard.

The White House Easter Egg Roll took place on April 6th in President's Park on the South Lawn of the White House. This year's theme, "#GimmeFive," encourages Americans across the country to share five things they are doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life, and supports the First Lady's Let's Move! initiative to help kids grow up healthy and  have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
